Crossing The Finish Line

Celebrate with Cupcakes | Storypiece.net

**This was originally a end of school year post, but I think it works just as well to kick of a new school year too**

I wasn’t planning on taking a break from blogging, but someone hit the fast forward button and here we are.  The last two weeks have been a mad, frenzied dash to the end of the school year and we now have a freshman and senior living under our roof.  Woot!!  It’s been seven years (seriously?!) since my kiddos have attended the same school at the same time and I’m excited to have them together again, even if it’s only for a year.

But today, I can honestly say I’m not sure who is more thrilled to be done with classes… the kids or me.

Actually, I think it’s me.

In honor of the occasion, I felt like a little celebration was in order.

Since Tess is graduating middle school and Evan is looking forward to his last (most epic) year of high school, I pulled in their soon to be joint school colors.

I’ve had these letter stamps from Close to My Heart for years and they are still some of my favorites.

I also picked up these incredible cupcakes from The Sweetest Thing.

Portland has some outstanding bakeries, but this place is tops.  I had no idea what the big obsession was about cupcakes until we stumbled upon it.  So good!

This sampling includes:

Wedding Cake & Pineapple Up-Side-Down Cake

And in honor of Father’s Day…

Chocolate Potato Chip & Kahlua Frosting with Chocolate Stout Cake

So yummy!  Good thing I’ll be putting on a swimsuit next week.

Any big plans for the Summer of 2013?  Vacations? Renovations? What do you have on deck?  Even though, I’ve stepped away from my computer, we’ve still been working on several projects and there’s lots to share.  Stay tuned!

Congrats to everyone! Can you throw me a party? My oldest is graduating kindergarten and I keep thinking I don’t remember ever getting an SK graduation party. With cupcakes. Sigh.

Ha! Seriously… it’s not my natural bent to throw little parties like this, but it’s Tessa’s so I try to do things like this that will make her day. Fun thing is… she stayed at her friends last night and missed the whole thing. My son and all his friends enjoyed it instead. I guess that’s the way motherhood rolls some times. 🙂

So cute! But? Chocolate potato chip? I’ll take your word was it was good!

My two weeks “off” could have easily turned into three… possibly four, without even noticing. Time goes faster in the summer, right? That’s scientific, I think.

How fun!!!! It’s always a good time to throw a party with cupcakes. Congrats to your kids. Another year and so much learned. It goes by way too fast. Chocolate potato chips need to be in my future. Salty and sweet makes me happy.

    Have a fun summer!!!
