Absolutely Easy Easter Basket Ideas Teens Will Actually Love

To go along with the Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt that I have planned for this year, I’m beginning to brainstorm Easter basket ideas.  Even though my kids are teenagers, the excitement of finding a little something special left for them Easter morning has not diminished.  And this year, I decided to come up with themed Easter baskets that are specifically suited to my kids.

The beauty of putting together a theme Easter baskets is that it can go a lot of different ways.  This by no means is a comprehensive list… just some things that have caught my eye.

So here are my picks for teens that may have outgrown bubbles and crayons, but not Easter baskets.

Easter Basket for Teen Boys:  The College Bound Guy

ClosetMaid Fabric Drawer – I should mention that early on I decided to go with something practical for my “basket”.  Traditional baskets often need to be stored for the following year or donated and I hate having to do either.  An Easter basket that is not a basket at all is my favorite solution.  All of Evan’s Easter loot will be found in this collapsable storage bin. It will come in handy next year as he figures out creative storage solutions for his new place.

Bodum Insulated Stainless-Steel Travel French Press Coffee and Tea Mug – My son has been needing a new travel coffee mug and this one that doubles as a french press will be perfect for the guy with limited space.

Apple Earpods w/ Remote and Mic – Evan has had a pair of these that he used DAILY for the last year and a half and they recently died.  They are super durable and for something he uses constantly, they are worth the investment.

Itunes Gift Card – Because what are new earbuds without some new music?

On Writing: 10th Anniversary Edition: A Memoir of the Craft – Evan actually got this Stephen King book for Christmas and so I have something different in the works for his Easter basket.  However, if you need a great gift for someone who loves to write or just read Stephen King, this is a solid recommendation.

Premium Travel Kit – Includes a 6000mah Portable Power Bank External Battery, Flashlight, Dual USB 2.1a Car Charger, USB to Universal Wall Adapter Charger for Usa, Uk, Eur, Germany,… Plug, USB to Micro USB Cables, Apple 30pin Iphone 4 Cable and Iphone 5 5c 5s Lightning Cable in a Traveling Pouch – This is the kind of thing that has anything in it you could ever possibly need for your gadgets.  I have no idea where life is going to take my son, but I’m glad he’ll be prepared.

Easter Basket for Teen Girls:  The Budding Chef

Red Melamine Batter Bowl – This lightweight bowl is the perfect functional Easter basket.

Red Retro Beater – The minute I saw this retro hand mixer, I knew my baker would need this for her gift basket.  It’s completely old school and something that will come in handy when she needs to mix something quickly.

Divya Apron – I love all the cute aprons that are on the market these days.  They look like cute dresses which makes me want to cook just so I can have a good excuse to own one. I think my girl is going to enjoy this just as much as I do.

Pink Lemonade Cupcake Kit – With all the new items to bake with, it only seems fitting to have something to bake.

Silicone Pastry Squeeze Pod – I have no idea what this is… or rather I have no idea how it works.  So we MUST have one!

Decorating Cupcakes Cakes and Cookies by Annie Rigg – And once she’s done baking, Tess can dream about future treats to try.  It’s tough living with someone who lives for baking… but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.

And of course there will also be crayons and bubbles along with the chocolate bunnies and marshmallow peeps because does anyone REALLY outgrow those?

This gave me real nostalgia… my mom constructed Easter baskets up until we left the house… (Then, when we all moved back again, we joked it was for the Easter basket.)

The first year Paul and I were married, Easter actually made me a little sad because I realized that the basket at the foot of the bed was over forever. (I am really not joking –it made me teary. Paul offered to pick up the tradition, but it’s not the same if it’s not your mom.)

Also, fact– nothing wakes you up like consuming massive amounts of sugar first thing in the morning.

What a sweet memory! It’s not really the same unless mom is doing it, is it? I’m sure I’ll send packages when Evan is away, but it’s really not the same either.
