**This is a sponsored post. However, all thoughts and reflections are my own.**
Since the beginning of this year, I’ve been dying to tell you about something that has been huge on my heart. I’m not sure if you’ve been able to see it on that side of the screen, but there has been a lot going on behind the scenes of this blog… a lot of learning, a lot of growing, a lot of asking questions and trying out new things.
In February I began my third year writing Storypiece. If my first year was all about figuring out exactly what blogging is and my second year was full of pursuing a passion when life is throwing curveballs, my third year has been focused on striving to create the best quality content I can that matters to (hopefully) both of us.
Part of this strategy has been in improving my photography and writing skills. It’s also been by educating myself on what makes running a blog meaningful and worthwhile to all involved. I’ve taken several online classes and spoke with some fabulous blogging friends and have often felt like I’m starting over because I “get it” now.
Has it been easy?
But it’s definitely been worth it.
And I want more.
So I’m seriously considering heading to the BlogHer14 conference. It is in San Jose, California this year, which is an easy jaunt from Portland, Oregon.
I’m ready to take Storypiece to the “next level” and spending time with fellow bloggers and industry leaders feels like the perfect next step. Not only am I eager to meet in person, bloggers that I’ve only known online, I’m looking forward to meeting serious colleagues and making new friends.
I want to hear from amazing speakers and creatives who have been at this point in their journey and discover what they did next. The event speakers include: Jenny Lawson (aka The Bloggess), Kerry Washington (Actress), Arianna Huffington (of a little publication called The Huffington Post) and Tig Notaro (Comedian).
These are all passionate women who are living out their calling and I have a feeling they are going to be a wealth of knowledge.
Also, I can’t wait to learn what new products and services are coming up in this industry. In the last three years, I’ve developed a true passion for blogging and social media and I can’t wait to see what is on the horizon.
For those that are interested in going, you can register here: http://goo.gl/O7ve4O. And if you are going, we NEED to talk. I would love to meet up and hear your story.
So here’s my question to you: Who’s going to BlogHer14? Have you been to a blog conference before? Do you have any recommendations I should know before going?
