Happy Fall Y’all

September is here and I’m SO excited!!  Pumpkin carving, colorful autumn leaves, breaking out my boots and sweaters and getting to decorate the house with all my fall favorites.  It is a beautiful season that almost makes up for all the rain that is coming. Almost.

But before I send the kids off to school and open some apple cider, I wanted to share my August Instagram Photo A Day Pics.

August was a busy month! A few of my favorite moments included:

Our weekend away at Skamania Lodge.  Tyson completely surprised me with a fully planned getaway for our 19th anniversary.

Watching our youngest become a teenager.  Happy 13th!

And seeing this kid smile without braces for the first time in 2 years.

Today the kids are kicking off their first day of school and each year gets more bittersweet. Next year will be my last “first day of school” with Evan. *sigh*

But I’m crazy proud of both of them and can’t wait to see what the school year has in store.

So Happy Fall, Y’all!  What are your favorite Fall traditions?  What are you most looking forward to this season?  Are you playing along with the Instagram Photo-a-day Challenge yet?  I want to hear all about it.

I hadn’t seen the two pictures of you and Tyson. LOVE THEM! Your family is amazing, Danielle. I always feel warm and fuzzy when I see your “end of the month” instagrams…. it makes me happy and reminds me how much I love my own family.

I’m really doing HORRIBLE with my photo-a-day. Sometimes the “words” or challenge is something I can’t get creative with. Oh well, I’m going to keep trying. You, however always come up with the coolest snaps. (jealous!)
Fall traditions?…. not sweating. We’re still in shorts at Christmas! Ha Ha Ha! I’ll be looking forward to seeing some shots of you in warm sweaters and leather boots. 🙂

Awww… thanks! We had the best time and it was extra special because it was a complete surprise for me.

Not sweating… HA, that’s a great fall tradition! One of my favorite things about living in the northwest is getting to wear fun clothes. We didn’t have much contrast in seasons in Southern Cal. And you’re no slouch in the photo department! You get some amazing shots. I have to bribe my dogs with treats to sit still and you caught a hummingbird in action… NICE!

I love the holidays… but I hate the shorter days and the cold and the long dark months of January and February. No part of me looks forward to watching the leaves change or getting sweaters out. Ugh.

As much as I love Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas, I’m basically a winter-scrooge. I would trade them all for one more month of summer!

I agree… the shorter days, the cold and the days without sun really get to me and by New Years I’m ready to stay in bed until spring. But every fall I still get all giddy… probably because everything is all golden without being a thousand degrees. It’s a twisted love/hate relationship for sure.
