With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I have one last minute gift idea that is quick and easy to do. I get that not every mom is a tote loving mom so here is a simple alternative using the subway art I shared last week.
Seriously, this easy Mother’s Day craft can be created in under an hour including paint drying. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Canvas (8×8)
- Paint and brushes
And of course you’ll need the subway art that can be printed directly onto iron transfer paper. To download click here: Mother’s Day Subway Art.
I asked my resident crafter to help me paint the canvas and she did not disappoint.
Based on the bird embellishment, Tessa came up with a cheery color palette that covered the edges of the canvas.
Since I wasn’t sure how the paint and canvas would react to the iron transfer paper, I asked her to paint the entire surface. This ended up being fortuitous as the color did bleed through even though the steam setting was definitely off.
I have no idea what that is about, but I was ready for it this time.
As I mentioned before, be sure to remove the backing paper from the transfer paper.
And don’t forget to cover your canvas with wax paper before ironing.
While ironing, I discovered the color bleeding through so I continued to add heat to draw the color evenly throughout the art.
Sorry… I couldn’t resist.
What Mother’s Day plans do you have for the special lady in your life? Are you going with homemade gifts or something special from Mom’s wish list? Any Mom’s who are just looking forward to a day of rest?
Whatever you decide to do, I hope that it is a day filled surrounded by the people that you hold most dear. Happy Mother’s Day to all my favorite Mom’s!
