Learn How to Make the Perfect Popcorn Box for Halloween

Although Christmas is our favorite movie viewing season, when the kids became too old for trick or treating, we turned to movies to keep the holiday fun. We began the Halloween tradition by watching a classic… Young Frankenstein. It’s the perfect blend of spooky and funny and Gene Wilder is at his top comedic genius in it. We’ve watched it so many times that we can say the lines along with the characters and giggle together each year.

Inspired by this Halloween classic, I’ve designed custom popcorn boxes decorated in some of our favorite Young Frankenstein quotes.

Create a Template

Trace your popcorn box to get the exact size you will need. My box has cute scalloped edges that you can trace or you can cover this edge with your decorative paper. Since I’m creating several boxes that will only be used once, I opted for the later.

Cut Out Your Pattern

You’ll need 4 sides cut in your decorative Halloween paper. If you are covering a scalloped edge, you’ll also want to cut 4 interior pieces.

To do this, use your exterior template. The interior pieces do not have to go the whole depth of the box.

Cover Popcorn Box

Use double-sided tape to adhere your cut out pieces to the sides of your popcorn box.

Prep Movie Quotes

Download and print Young Frankenstein Quotes or create your own from your favorite movie.

Once you have your quotes printed adhere to black cardstock. I used a circle template to cut mine out, but you could try cutting yours out with decorative scissors or go with a traditional square.

TIP: Print on to 8.5 x 11” label paper to save time when sticking the quotes to the cardstock.

Add Quotes

Tape ribbon and quotes around the exterior of your popcorn box.
