Beware! How to Make Dangerously Good Candy Corn Popcorn

Although I don’t consider myself a foodie or specifically a food blogger, 2017 somehow became my year of popcorn. It started with my Academy Award Best Picture and popcorn pairing which featured 9(!) popcorn flavor options and was so fun, I’m thinking it will become an annual post. This inspired a patriotic version to be enjoyed while watching 4th of July fireworks. And now that Cost Plus World Market has sent me a popcorn box to decorate for Halloween, it seems appropriate to round out the year with a fall flavor offering: Candy Corn Popcorn.

Pop Your Corn

If you are going to make popcorn, air popping is really the only way to go. It only takes a few minutes longer than microwave popcorn and the results are so much tastier.

You can pick-up an air popper very inexpensively. This is the one we use HERE.

Prep Popcorn

Spread freshly popped corn onto a wax paper lined cookie sheet.

Add Candy Corn & Peanuts

Sprinkle candy corn and peanuts evenly over the popcorn. I used lightly salted peanuts to balance the sweet of the candy corn. I can never seem to resist a salty sweet combo.

TIP: Once you’ve added your candy corn and peanuts to the popcorn try not to bump or move the cookie sheet too much otherwise the heavier add ins may fall to the bottom of the cookie sheet below the popcorn. The goal is for these ingredients to stay on top of the popcorn as much as possible so that they will get covered by the candy melts and stick to the popcorn.

Drizzle with Black Candy Melts

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to melt the candy and then carefully drizzle it over your popcorn.
