Just before Mother’s Day, I made a quick run to Target for some last minute items. And wouldn’t you know it… I found myself taking a stroll through the Target dollar section. You never know what you are going to find that you didn’t know that you couldn’t live without.
The Target dollar section did not disappoint.
How cute are these wine charm tassels?? And in my Mother’s Day party decor color?! Yes, please!
I actually prefer my wine charms to be differentiated by color or design so that everyone can distinguish which glass belongs to which guest. However these charms can be easily customized by adding a unique thread color to the middle section of each tassel.
Did I do that for our Mother’s Day brunch?
Of course not.
But I did come up with another idea for our summer entertaining.

Patriotic Wine Charm Tassels
Cut Binding Thread
To make your tassel, you’ll need thread to bind it all together around the wine charm ring. To make 6 wine charms cut 2 – 12″ strips of each color thread.
Cut Tassel Fringe
Layout the remaining skein flat along a ruler. Each skein of DMC floss is 6″ long. Cut the skein into two halves at the 3″ mark.
This will become your tassel fringe.
Tie Together Tassel
Thread one half of you cut skein over the wine charm ring. Then use a contrasting color thread (that you cut in step 1) to tie a basic knot together
Wrap ends of thread around the fringe then tie off with a standard knot.
Once you have all of your tassel’s made, carefully trim the binding thread ends. You can add a dot of glue to each knot to prevent it from unravelling, but this is optional.
Cut all tassel ends to the same length. I cut mine down to a 2″ tassel, but I’m considering cutting them even shorter. The beauty of this craft is you can choose the length you want.
You do you, Boo.
The only thing left is to add these to your wine glasses to enjoy at your next summer party.
These DIY tassel wine charms are so easy to make and customize in any color. Coordinate your charms even further if you are hosting a gathering with couples by assigning each pair a base color with differing binding thread. (ie The Johnson’s have the blue tassels and The Smith’s have the red tassels, etc).
And even if you are just enjoying a glass of wine on the back patio with a friend, how cute is your stemware going to look with a little fringe?!
